Panic Motorsports has moved! http://panicmotorsports.com/blog/2012/06/12/panic-motorsports-has-moved/ http://panicmotorsports.com/blog/2012/06/12/panic-motorsports-has-moved/#comments Tue, 12 Jun 2012 18:05:08 +0000 Administrator http://panicmotorsports.com/blog/?p=161 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

12 June 2012

Contact: Becca Bertok, Co-Owner

Email: becca@panicmotorsports.com

Phone: 803.261.7629

WEST COLUMBIA—Panic Motorsports, Inc., one of the Southeast’s largest road racing operations, has moved to a new shop in West Columbia.

In need of a larger space, Panic Motorsports, owned and operated by Steve and Becca Bertok, has moved to 1475 Old Dunbar Rd., just minutes from the airport.  Boasting a larger shop, additional acres, and more lifts, the Bertoks are excited about their new space.

“I am thankful that we’ve not only sustained our business, in this recession, but we’ve also been able to grow our business, through top notch customer service and knowledge,” said Steve.

“People have been more apt to fix their cars, rather than buy new, these past few years, and that’s certainly helped the parts-side of our business, but our arrive-and-drive service is growing in leaps and bounds.  We’ll be able to offer our customers, and hopefully some new customers, even more once our dyno arrives in July.”

In business since 2006, Panic Motorsports specializes in the building, preparation, trackside support, salvage and aftermarket parts, and streetcar service of Spec Miatas, Mazda Miatas, and the occasional RX-7.  “Arrive-and-drive” is the industry term for people who want to drive track days or race, but don’t have the time to maintain their own racecar.  With years of car development and multiple championships under his belt, Steve has become one of the top Spec Miata builders in the Southeast.  His P-40 Flying Tiger designed Spec Miata is highly recognizable throughout the U.S.

“We have customers that fly in from Vermont, Arizona, North Carolina, and more. We build, maintain, and transport their cars to the track, where they arrive to race. We provide trackside support, then pack everything up, and the customer flies home,” said Becca.

Columbia is in a good position, geographically, for Panic Motorsports to call home.  Carolina Motorsports Park, Virginia International Raceway, Road Atlanta, Charlotte Motor Speedway, and the new Atlanta Motorsports Park are all within a four hour drive.  Additional road courses, such as Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham and Daytona International Speedway are just a couple extra hours down the road.

The other half of Panic Motorsports’ focus is to sell salvage and aftermarket parts for Mazda Miatas and RX-7’s via their web store, Ebay, and shop sales. A Lexington County Certified Green Business, Panic completely recycles salvage cars.  Usable parts are removed, tested, and resold to body shops or car owners. Those parts that cannot be used are sold for scrap.

“There’s not a single piece of a salvage car that enters our shop that is simply thrown away, and Becca makes sure we recycle our office paper and drink cans too,” joked Steve.

Streetcar service is also available to local Mazda owners, as well as tire purchasing and mounting, alignments, general maintenance, etc.

For more information on Panic Motorsports, contact Steve at 803.261.7629 or visit www.PanicMotorsports.com.

Art mimics or Life mimics? http://panicmotorsports.com/blog/2012/03/06/art-mimics-or-life-mimics/ http://panicmotorsports.com/blog/2012/03/06/art-mimics-or-life-mimics/#comments Tue, 06 Mar 2012 16:48:08 +0000 Administrator http://panicmotorsports.com/blog/?p=147 Even with its one eye and multi-colored nose, this Gullwing has more personality than any modern Honda will ever have!  It also reminded me of one of my favorite paintings…

…”Must See Inside” (below) by Blue Sky, Columbia’s own internationally renowned artist.  This painting was recently displayed in the Cotton Grill around the corner from our home. It’s got a lot of personality too…more so than any Honda. ;)
